Dear School Families,
It feels so great to have school back in session. It has been fun seeing how tall the kids have all gotten over the summer.
We have so much to celebrate at CTK to begin this year. We welcome 30 new families to our community, along with 12 new team members as teachers, tech support, CLUB staff and instructional aides. New science, tech, and PE programming. A renovated media lab, a simplified volunteer sign up system, a more convenient and efficient online ordering portal for purchasing Scrip, a new parent leadership structure, and we hired a Development Director to help us keep our fundraisers and outreach coordinated.
Emily Brown has accepted the position as Development Director and will, in addition to other responsibilities, work as an acting co-chair to all of Christ the King Catholic School’s major fundraising and community initiatives. The Director’s role is to provide stability, clarity, and resources to our parent volunteer chairs. The Development Director works in compliance with, and with consideration for, the needs of the Parish and School Communities as determined by the Pastor, Principal and Parent Association (PA) in consultation with and support of the School Executive Committee (SEC) and under the guidance of the long-term planning structures provided by the School Advisory Council (SAC).
As you can see we have a great deal to talk about this Thursday night at Back to School Night. The schedule for the evening is included in today’s folder. We will begin at 6:30 sharp in the Church. Please join us to learn more about these exciting new people and programs as well as have the opportunities to talk to your classroom teachers and assistants, hear from your room parents, play in the new media lab and much more.
I look forward to seeing you all Thursday night.
A huge thank you to all of our community from the Rachel Becker, all the bakers, and Garden Café. We are most grateful to Rachel and her helpers for 9 years of glorious goodies, great company and support of our Garden of Blessings. We will miss you!
Prayers are requested for the father of Marissa Cox (Zivko Miric) and the grandfather of Samantha (Gr. 7) we Sacha (Gr. 5), Adam (Gr. 3), and Cecilia (Gr. 1) Cox who went to heaven last Friday. We ask the CTK community to join with us in prayers for those affected by the floods in Houston, those who are sick, without work, those who are hungry and homeless and for peace in the world.

8/30: PICTURE DAY: Please note that Picture Day is tomorrow, August 30th. Students are to be in Dress Uniform (White Uniform Shirts– not Green). All students will have their pictures taken for the class photo. Let’s get those great smiles already.
8/31: BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT: Back to school night for all grades is, Thursday August 31st at 6:30 p.m. in the Church. All parents meet in church for Principal welcome at 6:30 p.m. Please note: This is a parents only event. More details below.

9/13: AUCTION TEAM MEETING: For all of those who have signed up or are interested in joining in the fun; our first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 13th at 7pm in the 6th grade classroom. We would love for you to come with ideas! In particular: 1) Any new fundraising ideas you may have, 2) Any suggestions you might have for the night of 3) A new donation source you think might be great to tap into and 4) a theme idea for the night (we're trying not to get decade specific). 9/19: CTK 9th ANNUAL WALK-A-JOG-A-THON FUNDRAISER: CTK students will lace up their tennis shoes and participate in the Walk-a-Jog-a-Thon on Tuesday, September 19! This fun and active fall fundraiser raises money for outdoor and science education including Camp Caritas, our science program, garden awareness activities and various other projects and needs around our school that are benefited by all grades. HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATION
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ABSENCE NOTES APPOINTMENTS:
Notification of Absence, Late Arrival, Early Dismissal, or Appointment during School Hours
• Parents must notify the school office (685-1109), e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org, or written note by 9:00 a.m. if their child will be tardy or absent from school that day.
• The parent/guardian must sign the student into school at the School Office upon arrival from home or an appointment.
Return after Absence
• A written note stating the reason for and the date of absence, signed by the parent or guardian is to be sent to the classroom teacher the day the child returns to school. Notes are to be written for each student, not per family.
Picking up your Child during School Hours
• Parent/guardian or person designated by them must go to the School Office to pick up the child and sign the attendance log. If the child returns to school after the appointment he/she must report to the School Office and obtain a Class Entry Slip signed by office personnel.
Medical/Dental Excused Absences
• Students arriving late or leaving early for medical or dental appointments will receive an excused absence only if dated forms are brought from the doctor or dentist stating the time spent there.

CHILDREN WALKING, BIKING OR TAKING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION HOME FROM SCHOOL: If your child(ren) walks, bikes or takes public transportation such as UBER, LIFT, taxi or other public vehicle home from school, please send the Parent Permission Walk/Bike Home from School Form to the School Office. The forms are included in today’s Family Download. Forms are required to be on file for students to leave off campus without adult supervision in order to safeguard your children. We do not recommend anyone walking through the small church lot. Thank you for your assistance in helping us to watch over the safety of our students!
TUITION REMINDER: Believe it or not, September is right around the corner, please be attentive to paying the tuition on time. Tuition is due on the first of the month and late on the eighth. Late fees will be assessed. Please remember that tuition payments should be made in the amount noted on your tuition contract.

• 2 children $ 1,350.00 per month August- May
• 3 children $ 1,675.00 per month August- May
• 4 children $ 1,975.00 per month August- May
**Don’t forget if you use Bill Pay through your own personal banking institution, you can set up Christ the King School for your tuition payment. Set up a recurring payment on the first of each month August 1 – May 1. If you have forgotten your tuition payment information and can’t find your contract, you can contact Mrs. Wilson in the office for clarification. Families experiencing financial hardship during the school year are encouraged to contact Mr. Caban or Mrs. Wilson to discuss assistance or a change in payment dates.
SCRIP UPDATE: You may notice that there is no SCRIP order form in today's envelope. Be ready to fall back in love with scrip! We are in the process of revamping the program for a new and improved way to reach your SFA. Details are coming at Back to School Night. Stay tuned and thank you for your patience. ...
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT: Back to school night is this Thursday August 31st at 6:30 p.m. in the Church.
• 6:30 p.m. – All parents meet in church for Principal welcome.
• Gr. 6-8: After Mr. Caban’s presentation, parents of 6th, 7th and 8th grade will remain in the church. There will be one session at 7:05 p.m. where parents will meet and hear the presentations from the Junior High Teachers and Room Parents. After this presentation:
o If you have a child in Grades K-5 you can go to a Session II, 7:40 p.m. K-5 presentation in the classrooms.
o Grades 6-8 teachers will go to the Junior High Classrooms after their presentations to be available for questions.
• Gr. K-5: Parents of students in Grades K-5 go to classrooms for presentations from Teachers and Room Parents. There are two sessions:
o Session I at: 7:10 p.m.
o Session II at: 7:40 p.m.
This is your opportunity to meet your children’s teachers and hear their expectations first hand. Because we have so many new faces on staff we want all of them to be available for you to meet. This evening is intended for parents only. Please make childcare arrangements for your children.
CTK SCHOOL CHOIR: Join the CTK School Choir (Gr. 1-8)! No experience required. See the flyer in today’s Family Envelope and download.
ALTAR SERVERS NEEDED: Altar server sign-up forms (Grades 4-8) are enclosed in this week’s Family Envelope/Download. THURSDAY HOT LUNCH /MILK ICE CREAM:
• Hot Lunch will be served this Thursday. This week we will be serving bean and cheese burritos; don’t forget your Hot Lunch ticket.
• Milk and Ice Cream. The cost of a milk ticket is .75 cents. Ice cream and is sold on Tuesdays only at lunch time. The cost of ice cream is 2 tickets - $1.50.
If you have not ordered hot lunch/milk tickets, order forms are attached in today’s download. Return completed forms and payment to the school office tomorrow via the Family Envelope. Orders will be sent home with your child at the end of the day. Forms will be in the download each week. Plan ahead and purchase tickets ahead of time so you have plenty on hand. Orders are filled and returned to you via Family Envelope.
MONSIGNOR WADE GOLF TOURNAMENT: We are looking for more volunteers to help with the Monsignor Wade Golf Tournament on Monday, September 11th. WALK-A-JOG-A-THON: We need volunteers to make this amazing event happen. Hours worked on the
