Dear School Families,

A message from Mr. Caban received on March 23rd.

Hola and Buenos Dias! Greeting from Belorado.

Please, let me thank you. I am forever grateful for the sacrifices everyone is making so that I can be here. I truly appreciate it and I carry you all with me in my heart every day.
This is by far the most difficult thing I have ever attempted. I will soon embark out for today's section which will either be 20km or 29km depending on if the Monastery along the way is open and how my body feels.
I managed to cross the Pyrenees on day one through pounding rain and sleet. There were several occasions where felt like I couldn't climb anymore, however one foot went in front of the other and I climbed until I was near collapse. And suddenly the convent of Roncesvalles appeared out of the fog and there was a serious hallelujah moment. The Dutch volunteers who run this alburgue or Pilgrims hostel told me it was their first day open for the season. They showed me great kindness. The kindness of complete strangers was my first lesson on the way of St James. My baptism in the mountain crossing showed me that only through kindness from strangers and cooperation with your tramily (trail family) can you ever hope to complete the journey. You cannot do it all alone.
This was almost 10 days ago but seems like forever. It was the first of many very humbling experiences. This is not a pleasure cruise. Every morning I limp out of my bunk and want to quit, but I haven't. I am trying to honor the sacrifices you all are making by continuing. For you and for everyone who can't be here, I walk.
I miss you all and may God bless you. Chris

PLEASANT HILL JULY 4TH FIRECRACKER RUN SCHOOL FUNDRAISER: As some of you may know, Christ the King School has participated in this great fundraiser each 4th of July in Downtown Pleasant Hill. It's time to register for the Pleasant Hill July 4th Firecracker 5K Run and Walk school fundraiser. Remember, all net proceeds from your registration directly benefit Pleasant Hill schools CTK School included. This event is celebrating its 13th year, the run has raised over $120,000 to benefit Pleasant Hill schools, and with your support it continues to grow each year! So, gather up the family, dress in your best patriotic gear, and join the fun while supporting our local schools. Early bird and family/group pricing available. Register early at https://raceroster.com/events/2017/12380/firecracker-5k
