WALK OUT IN SOLIDARITY: Christ the King School is holding a walk out in solidarity with other schools across the nation to bring to light to the tragic events in Florida.  The students will be participating in a prayer service organized by Student Leadership.  Recent school tragedies will not be mentioned but the focus will be on peace.  We want to extend a welcome to any parent who would like to join us. It will be on Wednesday, March 14th at 10:00 a.m. in church.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION

FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION: Diocesan and School financial aid programs may be available for families who qualify. While the primary responsibility for financing a student's Catholic education rests with the student's family, Christ the King Catholic School will make every effort to see that no child is denied access to a Catholic education based solely on lack of funds to pay tuition.

TUITION ASSISTANCE: There are three types of Tuition Assistance available to Christ the King families: BASIC, FACE, and the CTK Children’s Fund.

BASIC (Bay Area Scholastic Inner City) is an outside source available to all new students in Grades K-8 whose families qualify for the free/reduced hot lunch program and/or meet the income criteria set by Basic Fund. The Basic Fund application income criteria guidelines are strictly adhered to. Applications are available online only at http://www.basicfund.org/how-to-apply-english/. BASIC Fund grants are on a “first come first serve” basis. If you are interested, please submit your application as soon as possible! The filing deadline is March 16, 2018.

Diocese of Oakland FACE (Family Aid for Catholic Education) Grant is a Diocesan sponsored tuition assistance program available to all qualifying families requesting financial aid. A FACTS application is required and is due no later than March 16, 2018. Please contact the FACE office with any questions at 510-267-8358 or email at ptoups@oakdiocese.org.

The CTK Children’s Fund is tuition assistance sponsored by Christ the King Catholic School and is primarily available to students currently attending Christ the King. A FACTS application is required and is due no later than March 16, 2018.

FACTS application instructions: FACTS applications are available online only at https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/49NCY. Applications must include a copy of the family's most recent federal income tax return in order to verify the family's financial status and are due no later than March 16, 2018. HISTORY & USE OF PROCEEDS
Proceeds from auction benefit every student in the CTK community. Youth Ministry and Religious Education each receive a 5% share of non-Fund-a-Need income.
Historically, Christ the King budgets $100,000 of fundraising income into our general operating budget. This is line item 4150 Large Fundraisers in our chart of accounts for all my finance friends out there. This $100k is fulfilled by only Auction and Festival income. Other fund-raising activities such as Walk-A-Jog-A-Thon, Golf, and Scrip each have their own recipients and separate budget lines.
The $100k is used to pay for shared operating expenses such as salaries, benefits, and utilities. (As opposed to fee income, which covers per student expenses like textbooks, paper, school department fees etc). This $100k in income is also how we artificially keep our tuition lower than our competition while at the same time maintaining the staff and programming that we value for student success. Each family receives a discount of about $450 off of their yearly tuition because of the dedication and generosity of the Large Fundraising teams. Please join us in thanking all of them the next time you see them.

SCRIP SFA (School Fund Assessment) TOTALS: Mid-year scrip totals are included in your Family Envelope today from the time period May 7, 2017 through February 8, 2018. SEEKERS & SAINTS WOMEN OF TRANSFORMATION-A SPECIAL PERFORMANCE:
Christ the King Catholic Church presents a special performance of CTK mom Tiffany Hoover's one woman show Seekers and Saints: Women of Transformation on March 11th at 1:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The performance is sponsored by the CTK Branch of the Italian Catholic Federation. The eighty-minute performance includes monologues depicting the lives and epiphanies of Dorothy Day, Ruth, and St. Teresa of Àvila. No tickets are necessary but a free will offering for the performance will be welcomed.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY CELEBRATION: The Knights of Columbus invite you to join us for our annual St Patrick’s Day celebration at CTK, on Saturday, March 17th at 5.30 p.m. in the CTK Gym. See the today’s download for more information.

LOURDES VIRTUAL PILGRIMAGE EXPERIENCE: North American Lourdes Volunteers will present a 90- minute prayerful VIRTUAL PILGRIMAGE at Christ the King Parish on March 18, 2018 at 3:00 pm.

During this guided Lourdes experience, you will immerse yourself in the Gospel message of Lourdes as given by Our Lady to St. Bernadette. You will have the opportunity to touch the Grotto Rock and to experience the healing grace of Lourdes Water. As part of this spiritual opportunity to draw nearer to God with Our Lady and St. Bernadette, you will receive a bottle of Lourdes Water, a Eucharistic Blessing and pray the Rosary. A Plenary Indulgence is granted to all the faithful, under the usual conditions, who attend a Virtual Pilgrimage with North American Lourdes Volunteers. Come and experience the healing grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ through His Immaculate Mother.  Invite your family, children and friends. Our Lady extends Her invitation to all! The next best thing to visiting Lourdes itself is a Pilgrimage journey without the travel! For more information contact Aileen Peralta (5104565709) or aileenbperalta@aol.com.

Peace,

Christopher Caban
