Dear School Families,

We began Advent – a time of a little retreat. It is a time of change in our church worldwide and we had our first opportunity last Sunday. The students will be attending the Friday liturgies in December as well as on the holyday-Dec. 8th. So we will work at practicing our new responses with great enthusiasm. Use this time to reflect on the meaning of this season- its sacredness. Try not to get caught up in the thingsÖwhat can you do without to make it more special this year? Let us pray for one another during Advent and enjoy the mini retreat time.

Do you know?????

The parish Staff (Fr. Brian, Sr. Joanne, Al Garrotto, Sr. Maureen, Joan Smits, Helen Christian, Kate Doherty, Fr. Donie and myself) will be on retreat for these three days. We will be praying for all of you that we are privileged to serve and please pray for usÖThat three of us from the school along with other church volunteers took part in a training to use the AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). Our own parent- Jack Barton, (thank you, Jack) was able to organize this and get us an AED for the church and then one will come for the gym, etc. Our in-service day on the 18th of November was filled with teacher collaboration, work on our Religion curriculum, and an articulation meeting among all the teachers. It was a great workday. We had the great experience of having Jeremy Lin, rookie Warrior basketball player, visit our school and talk to our students about giving back, staying close to God and getting an education. This was arranged by one of our parents, Neda Barrie and it was a hit!

Parents Resource Support Group:

FIRST TRIMESTER REPORT CARDS: All students will be receiving their Report Cards on December 1st. Mrs. Gannon-Briggs will give students in grades 4-8 their report cards. We are proud of the hard work the students have demonstrated during this first part of the school year. Please take the time to sit down and review your childrenís grades with them. This is a wonderful time to acknowledge your childrenís strengths, and assist them in setting goals for their areas needing growth. We encourage all of our students to set personal goals for the 2nd Trimester. Please note that Conduct grades for Grades 5-8 are a collaborative effort from all teachers. Please check your studentís attendance and notify the office in writing if you see any discrepancies.
