VOLUME I NUMBER 8                                                                                     October 4, 2011

Dear Parents,

As we turn the calendar to October, we look to our saints like St. Francis of Assisi, Our Lady of the Rosary, St. Luke, St. Simon and St. Jude for inspiration and modeling gospel values. Our gospel value this week is Understanding. This seems to fit in well with conferences. The team- you, the teacher and the student all work together as a team to assist the student in being a successful learner in a Christ centered environment. Our saints can be inspirations, you are role models and together we support the work of your children.

Thank you:

To all those who worked on the 50th Celebration as we continue to celebrate 50 things for the rest of the year, including our free dress say on Monday…It is all about celebrating those who went before us, those who are here with us now and making sure the future is a bright one for Christ the King Catholic School…

PROGRESS REPORT INFORMATION:  Progress Reports for the first half of the 1st Trimester are coming home in today.  Please take the time to review them with your children noting their areas of strength and areas for growth.  This is an excellent time for the school and home to work together to help our children set academic goals for 2011-2012 and determine how we can help them achieve those goals.   Please note your child’s attendance may be reported incorrectly.  School One (our student information system) inadvertently counted medical appointments as absences.  The attendance will be correct on the next report card in December.  Also note if your child receives a V-, it means VG- .

CONFERENCE REMINDER:Parent-Teacher Conferences begin this Thursday, October 6th and Friday, October 7th.  Remember that there is no school on October 6th and 7th in order to accommodate all conferences.  Please remember that students in grades 5-8 must be present for the conferences with their parents.  If you find that you cannot make your conference, please contact the classroom teacher to reschedule.  It is important that you arrive on time since the day is fully booked by time slots that must be adhered to in order to accommodate all parents.  We look forward to working with you to ensure a successful partnership in your children’s education this school year!
