Dear School Families,
Blessings on your New Year! It is good to have your children back with us and we hope that
your families had a very blessed Christmas. I always find the start of a New Year to be invigorating. I
feel infused with the spirit of the newborn Prince of Peace and tell myself that it is time to clean house.
Not just to put away the decorations and find a home for the new treasure that was under the Christmas
tree, but also to spruce things up personally, put things in their place. The New Year offers us the
opportunity to put away old hurts, and maybe regrets, to make changes that will help us to be better
human beings, and look forward to a new day that has unlimited possibilities. While the economy and
world situation have most of us afraid for the future, I think it is instead a time to be optimistic. How can
we not look for the joy and blessings in our lives when we have just been reminded that a child was born
to show us the way to the kingdom? Jesus started his life in a manger and He walked a difficult road
during His life’s journey. The Christ child was born in fulfillment of a promise foretold by the prophets.
He led a simple life and endured hardship, pain, and suffering. Each of us endures our own trials that
may at times seem insurmountable, but nothing is impossible if we put our trust in the Lord. Let us
resolve to continue to listen to the word of our God, to come to Him with our pleas for strength and
comfort and find in Him our shelter from the storm.
May you awake each morning, with thank you on your lips and in your heart,
recognizing that all is gift, that all is blessing.
Joyce Rupp
REQUEST FOR PRAYERS: Your prayers are requested for the following individuals and their
families:
! For former student Kelly Flynn who is hospitalized in Arizona with serious damage to her
kidneys.
! For the gift of new life that will be bestowed on our PE teacher, Mrs. Nichols and her husband
Sam who are expecting a baby in late June!
CHRISTMAS THANKS: On behalf of the Faculty and Staff, I want to thank you for your generosity
during the Season of Advent! We were able to provide St. Vincent de Paul with almost $4,000 and 36
Dinner Boxes with many additional extras. Thanks to the wonderful men and women from the SFPD, the
families of St. Boniface Parish received over 350 gifts donated by you and the members of the staff here
at CTK. The Office and Faculty/Staff Room were overflowing with delicious treats for the entire week
before the holidays. Your gifts to all were most gracious and we thank you for your thoughtfulness! I
would specifically like to thank Captain Dan McDonagh (Laura, Grade 8 and Daniella, Grade 5) for being
our special liaison with the SFPD and Craig Cannon (Anthony Grade 5) who captured the St. Boniface
gift giving and provided the tape to Channel 2. We made the afternoon and evening news!
